Life Jacket Donations for Texas Lakes Can Help Save Lives

If you’re a Texas angler with a spare life jacket or two, you can help save lives by donating them to the Army Corps of Engineers’ life jacket loaner program. The Corps lends the jackets to boaters at no charge.

Check out the Corps’ National Water Safety Program.

“We need infant up to adult sizes,” says Helen Gordon. She, her husband, Scott, and the Brittney Sage Lindt Fund support the effort.

Jackets can be dropped off at events in the Bass Pro Shops Grapevine Series of tournaments. Next up is Lake Grapevine on Aug. 27.

“Also, we are trying to raise enough money to purchase two jet skis for the Corps to aid in water/boater safety,” Gordon adds.

Gordon and others are determined to improve water safety at Texas lakes in memory of Brittney, who was killed in 2006 on Lake Lewisville by a reckless boater.
