A Goliath Day at TRCP Saltwater Summit
Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 9:28PM The Second Annual Saltwater Summit began today at Mote Laboratory in Sarasota, Fla., with a morning of fishing. In the afternoon, experts assembled by the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership updated media attendees about fisheries issues.
Following a 15-hour day, I’m too tired to deal with those issues, so I’ll just share with you some of the photos from a wonderful morning on the water with Capt. Tom Stephens Sr.
I'll talk about the issues later.
TRCP's Cathrine Brady with a goliath grouper that weighed an estimated 100 pounds.
Capt. Tom Stephens Sr. with one of a number of hefty Spanish mackerel that we caught. Note the rainbow in the background, attesting to our spectacular day on the water.
We chased bonito for awhile, but this was the only one that we could convince to strike our topwater lures.
This heron landed aboard for a sardine snack as we headed in.
